Quirky Me

erratic_prophet | 11 December, 2005 22:59

I think I've seen a meme like this before, but I don't know where or when. I'm going to list a number-- I haven't picked a number because I don't know how many I can narrow it down to-- of random things about me that may seem odd to the normal person. They may even seem odd to the not-so-normal person. Anyway, here we go...

  1. I always having music running through my head. Always. What I hate is when the song skips-- yes, I have songs that skip in my head, stop looking at me like that-- or gets stuck on a certain word or phrase. Drives me insane. Even my dreams have soundtracks. And I've been known to burst out into song and dance numbers.
  2. I love blue food and drinks. I will try almost anything blue. One time, I drank a 3 liter bottle of blue soda-- yes, the whole thing-- just to see if it would turn my pee blue. It did. My bladder wasn't happy about all of that holding in so I don't recommend anyone else trying this.
  3. My fingers are super-flexible. They can easily bend backwards-- with the slightest amount of pressure-- at a 90-degree angle. Without using pressure, I can get them to bend back to about 60-degrees. When I was little, I could bend them all of the way back until they touched my hand. Now, they only go about 3/4 of the way before resisting.
  4. I can turn and lock my elbows in a variety of directions. This never fails to creep someone out. Especially when I place my hand on a table and just swing my elbow around in a circle without moving my hand or shoulder. It's a nifty parlor trick I've inherited from my mother.
  5. I eat the food on my plate in counter-clockwise order, taking one bite of each per cycle. Sometimes, I go wild and eat them in clockwise order. I take a sip of whatever I'm drinking at the end of each cycle. Yes, I know this makes me a freak.
  6. I have a semi-photographic memory. But it works erratically. Or maybe sporadically. One time, I memorized an entire Biology book, plus all of my notes, in order to pass the final. Yes, I got an A. I also lost 3 nights sleep and hallucinated soon after the exam, so I don't recommend anyone trying this either.
  7. Anywhere I go, I will find the craziest person in the room. Or, more accurately, they will find me. I'm like a beacon for their kind. This is why I immediately distrust anyone who's attracted to me. It makes me doubt their sanity. Not that I'm unattractive, but I draw in the crazy like no other.

Seven seems like a good number to end with. If anyone wants to use this meme, go right ahead. Leave a comment at the bottom so I can read about what kind of freak you are.

Flexibility [Reply]

I too am very flexible. I had a ski instructor nickname me "Gumby" because of the odd positions I would end up in with my skis still attached. My knees and elbows hyperextend, I am double jointed in my fingers, and I have a hitchhikers thumb.

As for my strange talent: I can take any song and change the lyrics quickly so that the song is about my dogs. It provides endless hours of entertainment.

spingirl- I'm fond of singing songs about my cat to my cat. I'm easily amused.

Michelle- They have the weird elbows like me and my mom, but not the ability to manipulate them like we do.

Mom had to learn to turn her elbows for archery class. (She'd been skinning herself.) I just learned it because it looked cool-- kinda like the lifting one brow thing I can do.
